Military Appreciation Day


Proclamation of September 27, 2014 as
Military Appreciation Day

WHEREAS, overseas military operations continue and Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen from Loudoun County are in harm’s way serving throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, the blessings of liberty require constant vigilance and sacrifice, and every man, woman and child in this great nation owes a debt of gratitude to those who have, or still are selflessly serving; and

WHEREAS, veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as wars past have served and continue to serve with honor, courage and commitment and ought to be honored and recognized for the sacrifices they have made to protect our cherished liberties; and

WHEREAS, on September 27, 2014, the American Legion Posts of Loudoun County have set aside a day to honor these patriots and their families, assist these outstanding Americans in obtaining veteran benefits, and partner with the Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans’ Service Officers to immediately help with new or prior Veterans Administration claims; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the citizens of Loudoun County, extends our sincere gratitude to all veterans and active duty service members for their courage, resolve, and selfless service.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, on September 3, 2014, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes September 27, 2014, as Military Appreciation Day in Loudoun County, Virginia.
